Summertime at the SNEWS

Hey folks!

It's been a while since I've updated. but I've had so many projects I had to sacrifice a bit of blogging time to keep up. Now, it's the summer and things are calm, fresh, and cool. I'm working here at the State News for the summer. It's quiet and dead most of the time, but we have a steady incoming of ads to work on. Nothing two people a day can't handle.

It's nice to say I have been promoted to Print and Web Coordinator! I now have a lot more responsibilities. I'm usually the last person to see an ad before it runs in the paper. I make sure there are no spelling mistakes and that the ad is ready for print by running it through PitStop and such. I'm also responsible for working with the Account Executives to make sure we have all the ads ready and approved by their client so they can run when they're scheduled. Other duties I have are to send out the press release, insert the ads into the pages at the end of the day, and upload web ads.

Another thing I've been doing here at the State News is working in Night Production. Once a week, I come in the building at night and proofread the finished pages and get them ready to send them to the printer. This is basically the final time to catch a mistake. I also make sure puzzle solutions are uploaded to the site and other things, such as feature classifieds.

There's a lot going on, but it's nice and low key. This is one of the reasons I love summer so much!

I'll be doing quite a bit of posting over the next couple of days to show off the multiple projects I've been working on over the last few months. I have the finished product of my branding project to post and a few things from work!

Stay tuned!
